Space optimization and jitter performance: The new GXO-95 series from Golledge redefines standards in high-speed timing.

High-density hardware design, present in AI accelerators, 400G/800G optical modules, and PCIe Gen5 systems, imposes critical space restrictions. Traditionally, achieving a low phase jitter level required sacrificing PCB area. However, the GXO-95 series from Golledge breaks this limitation. These devices offer superior phase performance in an ultra-compact 2.0 × 1.6 × 0.7 mm SMD format.

Technical specifications and performance of the GXO-95 series

The GXO-95 series is based on a hermetically sealed ceramic package. It is specifically designed for applications where signal integrity is the determining factor.

Key performance parameters

  • Phase Jitter: Ultra-low performance with a typical average of 40 fs RMS, considering an integration range of 12 kHz to 20 MHz.
  • Differential output options: Available in three architectures depending on the application: LVPECL, LVDS, and HCSL.
  • Power supply: Operational flexibility with support for 1.8 V, 2.5 V, and 3.3 V voltages.
  • Frequency range: Optimized for the 100 MHz to 160 MHz spectrum.

This family of oscillators guarantees exceptional stability under variable conditions, including changes in voltage, load, and natural component aging. For this reason, the implementation of a 0.1 µF decoupling capacitor is vital. You must place it physically as close as possible between the VDD and GND pads to ensure the specified phase performance.

The versatility of the series allows for standardizing timing design across multiple platforms, simplifying the bill of materials (BOM) without compromising the bit error margin.

By reducing the board area occupied, you significantly facilitate signal routing in thermally constrained devices. Consequently, you achieve higher density of critical components, such as FPGAs and high-performance SoCs.
