GS Yuasa drives the future of space with its lithium-ion batteries
At RC Microelectrónica, we are proud to share the milestones in space energy storage achieved by one of our longest-standing strategic partners: GS Yuasa. For over 30 years, GS Yuasa’s lithium-ion batteries have been essential in more than 250 space missions, with no recorded failures.
They have recently achieved three significant milestones, demonstrating the quality and performance of their lithium-ion cells. Their batteries have been successfully installed in the H3 Rocket and the Advanced Land Observing Satellite-4 (DAICHI-4), both developed to enhance environmental monitoring and land use mapping.
Space energy storage record
In March 2024, GS Yuasa surpassed 5.0 megawatt-hours of lithium-ion energy storage in space. This record was achieved thanks to the launch of Northrop Grumman’s Cygnus NG-20 spacecraft, part of NASA’s Commercial Resupply Service-2 contract. GS Yuasa’s LSE190 lithium-ion cells, integrated into the spacecraft’s power system, have set a new standard in space energy storage, demonstrating superior reliability and performance.
GS Yuasa continues to lead innovation in battery technology for both space and terrestrial applications. Their commitment to excellence in performance and quality ensures they will continue playing a key role in advancing various industries, providing top-quality products for automotive, commercial vehicles, industrial applications, motorcycles, motorsports, marine, gardening, and much more.
At RC Microelectrónica, we are proud to be distributors of GS Yuasa products, supporting technological innovation and contributing to progress across multiple sectors.
