New RT chokes series from schaffner: More performance in the same compact size

Schaffner has launched the new RT series of common-mode chokes, which offer superior performance without increasing component size. The RT8121, RT8131, RT8521 and RT8531 models in this series use nanocrystalline core technology to achieve attenuation levels up to 15 dB higher than their ferrite-based predecessor. This improvement is achieved while maintaining the same compact 65 mm diameter, facilitating integration into space-constrained designs.

Nanocrystalline core technology:

Nanocrystalline core technology is the basis of the new RT series, enabling significantly improved attenuation performance compared to previous versions. This advancement in technology provides increased filtering power in the relevant frequency bands of the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) spectrum, offering an effective solution for eliminating common mode electromagnetic noise.

Specifications

  • Rated currents from 25 A to 63 A at 60°C
  • Operating voltages up to 600 VAC and 450 VDC
  • Particularly suitable for frequencies from 10 MHz to 30 MHz
  • Wide range of inductance values from 3 mH to 13 mH
  • Low magnetic leakage flux
  • Increased winding insulation

Market Applications

It is designed to filter common mode electromagnetic noise on the mains side of an electrical device, thus eliminating electromagnetic interference problems directly on the PCB. This component is especially relevant for machine and electronics manufacturers with power demands in applications ranging from 10 kW to 80 kW.

It is ideal for use in power supplies for electric vehicle charging stations, robotics, photovoltaic inverters, converters, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), switching power supplies, LED lighting, communication devices and medical/laboratory equipment.

Schaffner’s new RT common mode choke represents an advanced solution for multiple industrial applications requiring high filtering performance in a compact form factor. At RC Microelectronics, we are excited to offer this innovative component to our customers and support the improvement in the design of electrical and electronic systems.
