SCHURTER ARO: compact, robust inline fuse for high‑power protection

High-precision motion control with Bogen Magnetics’ miniaturized sensors

Stable performance in applications where current, temperature, and vibration leave no room for error

In modern power systems—such as electric‑vehicle charging infrastructure, telecommunications, or industrial equipment—cable protection must withstand high currents and transient surges. On top of that, these environments are often exposed to continuous thermal cycling and harsh ambient conditions.

When the fuse isn’t up to the task, unexpected interruptions—or even critical field failures—can occur. That’s why in applications where service continuity is essential, choosing the right fuse makes a real difference in both reliability and safety.

In this context, the new SCHURTER ARO inline fuse meets these demands with a compact design, exceptional breaking capacity, and high mechanical and thermal resilience. It stands out as a solid choice for demanding environments.

A compact fuse engineered to withstand extreme conditions

The ARO fuse combines a 10 × 25 mm inline format with a breaking capacity of 50 kA at 250 VAC—an uncommon figure for a fuse of this size. It’s also available in rated currents of 16 A, 32 A, and 63 A, making it suitable for everything from auxiliary lines to more demanding power systems.

Its ceramic tube construction and silver‑plated copper‑alloy terminals ensure both thermal and mechanical stability, even under vibration, shock, or moisture.

The fuse delivers reliable performance across an ambient temperature range from –40 °C to 125 °C. It also passes multiple environmental tests under IEC 60068, including vibration, shock, and salt mist. In addition, it meets requirements for dry heat, cold, constant humidity, and thermal cycling.

This combination of electrical and mechanical robustness makes it a reliable solution for equipment exposed to changing conditions or continuous operation.

Applications of Schurter’s ARO fuse

The ARO fuse’s design makes it especially suitable for electric‑vehicle charging infrastructure (charge piles and charge guns), where high currents and transient spikes are the norm. It’s also a reliable choice for telecommunications, power generation and transmission, auxiliary lighting, professional audio/video, and general wiring protection systems. Its resistance to vibration and shock makes it a solid option for onboard equipment or installations exposed to movement or impact.
