Vishay TMBS® Gen 2 Schottky Rectifier Modules
High-precision motion control with Bogen Magnetics’ miniaturized sensors
New Vishay TMBS® Gen 2 100 V Schottky rectifier modules in SOT-227 package
In industrial power electronics, every tenth of a volt matters—especially in high-current applications, where conduction losses directly impact thermal efficiency, system sizing, and long-term reliability. Vishay Intertechnology expands its portfolio with four new 100 V TMBS® Gen 2 Schottky rectifier modules, designed to optimize power conversion in demanding industrial applications.
TMBS® Gen 2 Rectifiers: Lower Forward Voltage Drop, Higher Efficiency
Vishay’s new TMBS® (Trench MOS Barrier Schottky) Gen 2 modules stand out for their class-leading forward voltage drop, with values as low as 0.83 V. As a result, conduction losses can be significantly reduced compared to conventional Schottky solutions.
This performance translates into lower heat dissipation, higher system efficiency, and, in many cases, the possibility of simplifying thermal management in the design. Additionally, the devices are available with current ratings from 100 A to 400 A and feature virtually negligible Qrr. This makes them especially suitable for high-frequency applications, where fast switching is a critical factor.
The TMBS® Gen 2 rectifiers are designed to operate at temperatures up to +150 °C, a key feature for industrial environments with demanding thermal conditions. They also meet RoHS requirements and carry UL approval (file E78996), ensuring suitability for applications targeting international markets and regulated environments.
Standard SOT-227 Package: Direct Replacement Without Redesigns
One of the main advantages of these new rectifiers is their fully isolated SOT‑227 package, a widely used standard in power electronics. Thanks to this design, the modules can be integrated as drop-in replacements for existing solutions, allowing system efficiency improvements without redesigning the PCB or modifying the mechanical assembly. Additionally, Vishay offers these modules in two configurations: two separate diodes in parallel and a single-phase bridge. This flexibility makes them suitable for various rectification schemes and power topologies, while maintaining a compact and robust design.
Applications in Industrial Power Electronics
These rectifier modules are an ideal solution for high-frequency converters and power supplies, industrial welding equipment, and SMPS. They also suit 48 V light vehicles, telecommunications equipment, and blocking diode functions in large-capacity battery systems. Thanks to this versatility, along with the combination of low Vf, high current, and standard packaging, system efficiency is increased and reliability is improved.
