Ferroxcube launches 3F37: high-frequency ferrite for advanced power conversion
At RC Microelectrónica, official distributor of Ferroxcube in Spain and Portugal, we present the new 3F37 ferrite, an MnZn material optimized for power conversion in the 300 kHz to 1 MHz range, specifically designed for fast-switching GaN and SiC devices. With minimal losses around 500 kHz, 3F37 enables the development of compact, efficient, and high power density modules.
High-frequency Ferroxcube 3F37 ferrite: cutting-edge efficiency and thermal stability
The new 3F37 material stands out for:
- Low losses across a wide temperature range, ensuring stable performance under demanding thermal conditions.
- High flux density (Bsat), enabling compact and high-performance core designs.
Wide operating bandwidth, up to 1 MHz, ideal for fast-switching applications.
Comparison with 3F36
Although 3F36 has been a benchmark in high-frequency designs, 3F37 represents a leap in efficiency and thermal stability. At similar flux densities, 3F37 exhibits lower power losses, especially between 400 and 600 kHz, making it the preferred solution for next-generation GaN and SiC converters. For designers already working with 3F36, the transition to 3F37 is straightforward, maintaining the same permeability while improving performance at high frequencies and temperatures.
Steinmetz coefficients: now included in the datasheet
For the first time, Ferroxcube includes Steinmetz coefficients in the 3F37 datasheet, based on measurements on T25/15/8 cores. These parameters allow designers to simulate core losses under specific operating conditions, with a high correlation between simulated and measured results, enhancing design reliability.
