Get ready for 2026: Iskra DC Link capacitors, the heart of electric charging infrastructure.
High-precision motion control with Bogen Magnetics’ miniaturized sensors
The challenge is no longer the car, but the charging.
The Global EV Outlook 2025 from the IEA confirms that electric mobility has reached a point of maturity. In 2024, more than 17 million electric vehicles were sold, and in 2025 the figure will exceed 20 million, with a market share already surpassing 25%. The challenge, however, is no longer the vehicle itself, but the charging infrastructure.
High-power DC fast chargers (HPC) have become the true bottleneck of the energy transition. Although the number of ultra-fast stations above 150 kW grew by 50% in 2024, public capacity will need to increase ninefold before 2030 to meet projected demand. In this new scenario, the reliability of power components and proper thermal management are emerging as decisive factors for the next phase of electric mobility deployment
From AC to DC Fast Charging: a technological leap.
The transition from alternating current (AC) charging to direct current (DC) fast charging represents a radical change. Systems must be more robust, capable of delivering higher power per charging point and increasingly shorter charging times. This leap brings new demands in reliability and thermal management, since the power electronics that control the chargers operate under extreme conditions. This is where DC Link capacitors become the heart of the infrastructure: they stabilize the DC bus, absorb current peaks, and determine the actual service life of the charger.
Iskra solutions: DC Link in the spotlight
Iskra’s DC Link capacitors have been designed to meet the most critical demands of electric mobility and modern power electronics. They are suitable for applications in automotive (HEV/EV and charging stations), industrial converters, wind and solar power plants, as well as in servo drives and precision machinery.
Their construction with metallized polypropylene dielectric and dry technology provides exceptional reliability, thanks to a controlled self-healing process that ensures a long service life and minimal capacitance loss over time. These capacitors withstand very high ripple currents and severe environmental conditions—temperatures up to 110 °C, humidity, and demanding operating voltage—making them a technical benchmark for high-power applications.
With capacitance values reaching 5000 µF, rated voltages between 450 and 900 V, and currents above 400 Arms, Iskra’s DC Link capacitors ensure stable performance in fast chargers, electric and hybrid vehicles, and industrial energy conversion systems. Their compact design, with direct mounting on IGBTs and low inductance, facilitates integration into modern architectures, while compliance with international standards such as IEC 60384-16 and 61071 guarantees compatibility and safety in global projects.
In conclusion, Iskra’s DC Link capacitors are the critical component that determines the true reliability and scalability of electric charging infrastructure.
Other Iskra solutions for charging stations
In addition to DC Link capacitors, Iskra offers a complete ecosystem of components that ensure safety, efficiency, and control in charging stations:
- WM3X6 energy meters (MID certified): enable precise monitoring of consumption in three-phase networks, measuring active, reactive, and apparent power, as well as power quality parameters.
- RI50/RI60 Miniature circuit breakers: protect cables and equipment against overloads and short circuits, ensuring service continuity with VDE and EAC certifications.
- IK32/IK40/IK63 Contactors: flexible and silent switching devices with low coil consumption, ideal for efficient load management in charging stations.
- NFI B-type Residual current circuit breakers: provide protection against electric shocks and fire hazards, complying with CE, VDE, and EAC standards.
This set of solutions makes Iskra a strategic supplier of high-quality components for electric charging infrastructure.
The race towards 2026
The next major technological barrier will not be producing more electric vehicles, but designing charging systems that are robust, scalable, and ready for high power. At RC Microelectrónica, we know that Iskra’s DC Link capacitors are the component that will make the difference, ensuring performance, safety, and continuity in the new era of electric charging. Our technical team will help you integrate Iskra’s DC Link capacitors and the rest of the safety and power solutions into your projects, with full assurance of reliability and regulatory compliance.
