New Vishay high-voltage ceramic capacitors: up to 15 kV DC with low losses
Vishay has expanded its portfolio of high-voltage radial disc ceramic capacitors, a solution designed for applications where reliability, stability, and resistance to extreme conditions are critical factors. These new components offer rated voltages of up to 15,000 VDC (5,300 VAC) while maintaining a very low dissipation factor and high insulation resistance.
Optimized design for demanding environments
The new Vishay capacitors consist of a ceramic disc with both sides silvered and radial wire terminals made of tinned steel-coated copper, available in different diameters and lead spacings (9.5 mm and 12.5 mm). The coating is made with flame-retardant epoxy resin (UL 94 V-0), providing additional safety in environments where electrical discharges or high temperatures may occur.
The dielectric used, T3M (N4700), ensures low capacitance variation with temperature (-4700 ppm/°C ± 1000 ppm/°C), resulting in stable performance across the operating range of -30 °C to +85 °C.

In addition, their design is intended to prevent surface discharges between terminals and withstand dielectric strength tests of up to 1.5 times the rated DC voltage for a maximum of 60 seconds (destructive test in insulating liquid).
