RFN02860A2 series: high-brightness bar-type IPS displays with an operating temperature range of -30 °C to +85 °C
The design of modern embedded systems constantly faces space constraints and demanding environmental conditions. This is especially common in compact control panels, medical devices, or industrial equipment. However, integrating a clear interface in narrow formats often forces a compromise in image quality. Therefore, to meet the need for reliable displays with excellent viewing angles in harsh environments, we present Raystar’s new RFN02860A2 series.
Technical specifications
The Raystar RFN02860A2 series features a bar-type format with a 2.86-inch diagonal and a resolution of 376 × 960 pixels. Thanks to IPS technology, these modules ensure optimal color accuracy and 85°/85°/85°/85° viewing angles.
On the other hand, a key point for technicians is its combined 3‑wire SPI + 24‑bit RGB interface with an ST7701P controller. In addition, the entire range supports an extended temperature range from –30 °C to +85 °C. Therefore, the device ensures consistent optical stability in critical industrial environments.
The series is composed of three main variants depending on the brightness and interactivity requirements of the project:
- RFN02860A2A0WWDNN00: standard brightness of 600 cd/m², glossy (glare) surface, and dimensions of 31.2 × 76.6 × 2.63 mm without touch panel.
- RFN02860A2A0WHDNN00: high brightness of 1,000 cd/m² for maximum outdoor readability, with a slim 2.23 mm profile and no touch panel.
- RFN02860A2A0WHDNA00: high-brightness version with 900 cd/m², featuring a projected capacitive touchscreen (PCAP) and optical bonding technology, with dimensions of 40.2 × 84.3 × 3.85 mm.
Applications and benefits
Thanks to their elongated format, these modules are especially suitable for industrial automation applications, instrumentation, and test equipment. They also adapt very well to portable medical devices and advanced home‑automation systems, such as smart control panels.
Secondly, IPS technology with optical bonding and PCAP touch panel reduces internal reflections. As a result, it improves mechanical robustness and enhances the end-user experience. Therefore, having three brightness configurations within the same architecture simplifies scalability and optimizes certification costs.
